Casey? The Doctor Won't See You Now.

The O.B office that I go to has three doctors, who ever happens to be on call when you go into labor will deliver your baby. My favorite is a nurse practitioner/midwife, Nurse M unfortunately she cannot deliver my baby due to insurance restrictions, I also really like DR. N & Dr. P even though I have only met them once. This entire office, Dr.L in particular came HIGHLY recommended, imagine my dismay at the following events.
This visit was in my first trimester, I was scheduled for an afternoon appointment with Dr.L, I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes (no exaggeration) I spoke with the front desk they assured me I would be in momentarily. A nurse then called my name and as I started to go in she came towards me, she asked me if it would be okay if they rescheduled me for tomorrow, that DR.L had to leave to pick up his kids. "No" was the reply she received, "Do you think that someone could have come out here BEFORE I wasted 45 minutes? I took time off work for this, no I cannot reschedule for tomorrow."
So she gets me in to see Dr.L who tells me I am too heavy, I need to see a dietitian and gain no more weight for the duration of this pregnancy I am high risk for Gestational Diabetes, he was actually was very nice about saying this. He then lets me listen to my baby's heartbeat and says "OK Casey I have to go get my kids, Vicky will reschedule you." What a smart man! He knew all that was necessary to soothe the savage soon to be mommy was the sweet sounds of her baby, I was still too euphoric to yell at him. Bastard!
Visit number two scheduled with Dr.L, two hours before my appointment I get a call from the receptionist requesting a reschedule, again Dr.L and his kids, she is informed she sure can reschedule me with SOMEONE ELSE, and to cancel all future appointments with Dr.L.
I understand that babies are born, and schedules must change at this type of office, but I will not tolerate having an appointment, making sure I am there early, with a full bladder only to be shuffled around. I was nice to the receptionist, this after all is not her fault. Fortunately my favorite Nurse. M was available to see me that day.
I started working 4 days a week 10 hour days (I love this) having Wednesdays off, this is great for appointments, but leaves me with Dr.L again. I decide that since he could possible deliver my child I need to make peace with this, also if I schedule in the morning how many "I have to pick up my kids" issues could I run into. I was partially right, this time he was called away for surgery (after 30 minutes in the waiting room) this is an acceptable emergency, I get that someone else is obviously in more need than I am currently. Now the nurses are murmuring of the dreaded "reschedule" this still makes the soon to be mommy cranky. Miraculously my knight-ress in shining armour Nurse.M walks in and says " Casey I have time right now. Would you like to see me today?" I stop short of covering her with hugs and kisses "yes I would love that." So Nurse.M saves the day again, and also apologized that one of the possible people who can deliver my baby is never available for a normal appointment. I told her I am getting used to it.
My next few appointments are with Dr.L, this should provide for more wonderful stories.
Why stay with the same doctor?
My insurance company is a pain in the ass, they pay 100% which is amazingly wonderful, but a pain in the ass to get what you need.
This office came highly recommended.
I like 2 of 3 doctors.
I am so far along now, it's not worth changing.
My insurance company is a pain in the ass.
Rest assured unless some miracle happens, IF I get a second child, I will choose a different provider.

The results, baby is still perfect (of course), and mommy is doing an extremely good job at being pregnant. :)
